PIM. Why do we recommend that the size of your roof window should be at least 10% of your room's floor area?
Body Our analysis has shown that 10% in a standard attic room would, in most cases, be sufficient to meet the minimum requirements from the European Standard EN 17037 (300 lux for 50% of the year over 50% of the room area). When should you consider more than 10%? If you know the window will be subject to shadows and obstructions, consider staying within a 15-20% window-to-floor ratio. If in doubt, ask the VELUX Advisory Service for a daylight analysis of your room.
